8af6ecdb60 usb: typec: tcpci: Check ROLE_CONTROL while interpreting CC_STATUS

While interpreting CC_STATUS, ROLE_CONTROL has to be read to make
sure that CC1/CC2 is not forced presenting Rp/Rd.

>From the TCPCI spec:

4.4.5.2 ROLE_CONTROL (Normative):
The TCPM shall write B6 (DRP) = 0b and B3..0 (CC1/CC2) if it wishes
to control the Rp/Rd directly instead of having the TCPC perform
DRP toggling autonomously. When controlling Rp/Rd directly, the
TCPM writes to B3..0 (CC1/CC2) each time it wishes to change the
CC1/CC2 values. This control is used for TCPM-TCPC implementing
Source or Sink only as well as when a connection has been detected
via DRP toggling but the TCPM wishes to attempt Try.Src or Try.Snk.

061fae5283 usb: typec: tcpm: reset hard_reset_count for any disconnect
commit 2d9c6442a9c81f4f8dee678d0b3c183173ab1e2d upstream.

Current tcpm_detach() only reset hard_reset_count if port->attached
is true, this may cause this counter clear is missed if the CC
disconnect event is generated after tcpm_port_reset() is done
by other events, e.g. VBUS off comes first before CC disconect for
a power sink, in that case the first tcpm_detach() will only clear
port->attached flag but leave hard_reset_count there because
tcpm_port_is_disconnected() is still false, then later tcpm_detach()
by CC disconnect will directly return due to port->attached is cleared,
finally this will result tcpm will not try hard reset or error recovery
for later attach.

0094375717 usb: typec: tcpm: During PR_SWAP, source caps should be sent only after tSwapSourceStart

The patch addresses the compliance test failures while running
TD.PD.CP.E3, TD.PD.CP.E4, TD.PD.CP.E5 of the "Deterministic PD
Compliance MOI" test plan published in https://www.usb.org/usbc.
For a product to be Type-C compliant, it's expected that these tests
are run on usb.org certified Type-C compliance tester as mentioned in
https://www.usb.org/usbc.

The purpose of the tests TD.PD.CP.E3, TD.PD.CP.E4, TD.PD.CP.E5 is to
verify the PR_SWAP response of the device. While doing so, the test
asserts that Source Capabilities message is NOT received from the test
device within tSwapSourceStart min (20 ms) from the time the last bit
of GoodCRC corresponding to the RS_RDY message sent by the UUT was
sent. If it does then the test fails.

This is in line with the requirements from the USB Power Delivery
Specification Revision 3.0, Version 1.2:
"6.6.8.1 SwapSourceStartTimer
The SwapSourceStartTimer Shall be used by the new Source, after a
Power Role Swap or Fast Role Swap, to ensure that it does not send
Source_Capabilities Message before the new Sink is ready to receive
the
Source_Capabilities Message. The new Source Shall Not send the
Source_Capabilities Message earlier than tSwapSourceStart after the
last bit of the EOP of GoodCRC Message sent in response to the PS_RDY
Message sent by the new Source indicating that its power supply is
ready."

The patch makes sure that TCPM does not send the Source_Capabilities
Message within tSwapSourceStart(20ms) by transitioning into
SRC_STARTUP only after  tSwapSourceStart(20ms).

923e11ef2a usb: typec: ucsi: acpi: Check the _DEP dependencies
commit 1f3546ff3f0a1000971daef58406954bad3f7061 upstream.

Failing probe with -EPROBE_DEFER until all dependencies
listed in the _DEP (Operation Region Dependencies) object
have been met.

This will fix an issue where on some platforms UCSI ACPI
driver fails to probe because the address space handler for
the operation region that the UCSI ACPI interface uses has
not been loaded yet.

4309ab96ab usb: typec: tcpci_rt1711h: avoid screaming irq causing boot hangs
commit 302c570bf36e997d55ad0d60628a2feec76954a4 upstream.

John reported screaming irq caused by rt1711h when system boot[1],
this is because irq request is done before tcpci_register_port(),
so the chip->tcpci has not been setup, irq handler is entered but
can't do anything, this patch is to address this by moving the irq
request after tcpci_register_port().

da4c428a82 usb: typec: tcpm: Notify the tcpc to start connection-detection for SRPs

Some tcpc device-drivers need to explicitly be told to watch for connection
events, otherwise the tcpc will not generate any TCPM_CC_EVENTs and devices
being plugged into the Type-C port will not be noticed.

For dual-role ports tcpm_start_drp_toggling() is used to tell the tcpc to
watch for connection events. Sofar we lack a similar callback to the tcpc
for single-role ports. With some tcpc-s such as the fusb302 this means
no TCPM_CC_EVENTs will be generated when the port is configured as a
single-role port.

This commit renames start_drp_toggling to start_toggling and since the
device-properties are parsed by the tcpm-core, adds a port_type parameter
to the start_toggling callback so that the tcpc_dev driver knows the
port-type and can act accordingly when it starts toggling.

The new start_toggling callback now always gets called if defined, instead
of only being called for DRP ports.

To avoid this causing undesirable functional changes all existing
start_drp_toggling implementations are not only renamed to start_toggling,
but also get a port_type check added and return -EOPNOTSUPP when port_type
is not DRP.

30fc13ae88 usb: typec: tcpm: charge current handling for sink during hard reset

During the initial connect to a non-pd port, sink would hard reset
twice before deeming that the port partner is non-pd. TCPM sets the
the charge path to false during the hard reset. This causes unnecessary
connects/disconnects of charge path and makes port take longer to
charge from the non-pd ports. Avoid this by not setting the charge path
to false unless the partner has already identified to be pd capable.

When partner is a pd port, set the charge path to false in
SNK_HARD_RESET_SINK_OFF. Set the current limits to default value based
of CC pull up and resume the charge path when port enters
SNK_HARD_RESET_SINK_ON.

3cfce8b77a usb: typec: tcpm: Try PD-2.0 if sink does not respond to 3.0 source-caps

PD 2.0 sinks are supposed to accept src-capabilities with a 3.0 header and
simply ignore any src PDOs which the sink does not understand such as PPS
but some 2.0 sinks instead ignore the entire PD_DATA_SOURCE_CAP message,
causing contract negotiation to fail.

This commit fixes such sinks not working by re-trying the contract
negotiation with PD-2.0 source-caps messages if we don't have a contract
after PD_N_HARD_RESET_COUNT hard-reset attempts.

The problem fixed by this commit was noticed with a Type-C to VGA dongle.

bbc2e82060 usb: typec: tcpm: remove tcpm dir if no children

If config tcpm as module, module unload will not remove tcpm dir,
then the next module load will have problem: the rootdir is NULL
but tcpm dir is still there, so tcpm_debugfs_init() will create
tcpm dir again with failure, fix it by remove the tcpm dir if no
children.

8419fd562a drivers/usb/typec/tps6598x.c: fix 4CC cmd write

Writing 4CC commands with tps6598x_write_4cc() already has
a pointer arg, don't reference it when using as arg to
tps6598x_block_write(). Correcting this enforces the constness
of the pointer to propagate to tps6598x_block_write(), so add

056cda45cf usb: typec: class: Don't use port parent for getting mux handles

It is not possible to use the parent of the port device when
requesting mux handles as the parent may be a multiport USB
Type-C or PD controller. The muxes must be assigned to the
ports, not the controllers.

This will also move the requesting of the muxes after the
port device is initialized.

adapters, but the problem described with regmap-i2c not handling
SMBus block transfers (i.e. read and writes) correctly also exists

During HARD_RESET the data link is disconnected.
For self powered device, the spec is advising against doing that.

7.1.5 Response to Hard Resets
Device operation during and after a Hard Reset is defined as follows:
Self-powered devices Should Not disconnect from USB during a Hard Reset
(see Section 9.1.2).
Bus powered devices will disconnect from USB during a Hard Reset due to the
loss of their power source.

Tackle this by letting TCPM know whether the device is self or bus powered.

This overcomes unnecessary port disconnections from hard reset.
Also, speeds up the enumeration time when connected to Type-A ports.

1808341191 usb: typec: tcpm: Report back negotiated PPS voltage and current

Currently when requesting a specific voltage or current through
the psy interface, for PPS, when reading back from that interface
the values will always be the same as previously given, if the
request was successful. However PPS only allows for 20mV voltage
steps and 50mA current steps, and the psy class expects microvolt
and micro amp requests, so inbetween values can be provided through
this interface. Really when reading back the true values negotiated
should be given, and not the ones originally asked for.

To report the actual values negotiated with the Source, the values
stored are now rounded down to the relevant step units prior to
building the PPS request, so that those values are later correctly
reported through the psy interface. In addition this improves the
adjustments made to meet the operating power requirements of the
platform, which previously could have been slightly out due to not
using valid PPS units of voltage and current.

3e3b81965c usb: typec: mux: Take care of driver module reference counting
Functions typec_mux_get() and typec_switch_get() already
make sure that the mux device reference count is
incremented, but the same must be done to the driver module
as well to prevent the drivers from being unloaded in the
middle of operation.

This fixes a potential "BUG: unable to handle kernel paging
request at ..." from happening.

c413767e66 usb: typec: tcpm: Fix sink PDO starting index for PPS APDO selection
There is a bug in the sink PDO search code when trying to select
a PPS APDO. The current code actually sets the starting index for
searching to whatever value 'i' is, rather than choosing index 1
to avoid the first PDO (always 5V fixed). As a result, for sources
which support PPS but whose PPS APDO index does not match with the
supporting sink PPS APDO index for the platform, no valid PPS APDO
will be found so this feature will not be permitted.

Sadly in testing, both Source and Sink capabilities matched up and
this was missed. Code is now updated to correctly set the start
index to 1, and testing with additional PPS capable sources show
this to work as expected.

93dd2112c7 usb: typec: mux: Get the mux identifier from function parameter
In order for the muxes to be usable with alternate modes,
the alternate mode devices will need also to be able to get
a handle to the muxes on top of the port devices. To make
that possible, the muxes need to be possible to request with
an identifier.

This will change the API so that the mux identifier is given
as a function parameter to typec_mux_get(), and the hard-coded
"typec-mux" is replaced with that value.

146971e624 typec: tcpm: Correctly report power_supply current and voltage for non pd supply
Commit f2a8aa053c ("typec: tcpm: Represent source supply through
power_supply") moved the code to register a power_supply representing
the device supplying power to the type-C connector, from the fusb302
code to the generic tcpm code so that we have a psy reporting the
supply voltage and current for all tcpm devices.

This broke the reporting of current and voltage through the psy interface
when supplied by a a non pd supply (5V, current as reported by
get_current_limit). The cause of this breakage is port->supply_voltage
and port->current_limit not being set in that case.

This commit fixes this by setting port->supply_voltage and
port->current_limit from tcpm_set_current_limit().

This commit also removes setting supply_voltage and current_limit
from tcpm_reset_port() as that calls tcpm_set_current_limit(0, 0)
which now already sets these to 0.
